Tag management information

Written by Cision

The Tag Management section of Settings will enable you to Create, Rename, or Delete Tags. There are two types of tags that you can create in your system, News and Custom Activities. News Tags allow you to further organize your coverage while Custom Activities tags allow you to organize your media outreach.

To access the Tags management area in Settings:

To make changes in your Tags, click the person icon in the upper right hand corner and select Settings from the drop down.

Select Tags from the Settings Panel.

A grid view of the all Tags existing in the system will appear. You will notice two types of Tags, at the top:

News

Custom Activities

News will show any tags created in your account that pertain to news articles and Custom Activities will show any tags you created in the activities area of your system. By default, the Tags are in alphabetical order. Notice that you can click the upside down triangle in Name and Tagged Clips columns to sort the Tags in various ways.

Creating a Tag

Click the New Tag button in either the News or the Custom Activities area.

Type in the name of the new tag that you want to create.

Click Save. Your New Tag will appear in the grid view which is organized in alphabetical order by default unless you use another column to sort the tags.

Renaming a Tag

Click Delete on the confirmation screen to fully Delete the Tag.

Bulk Delete Tags

To delete more than one Tag at a time, use the bulk Delete button.

Place checkmark(s) for the Tag(s) that you want to Delete. (Note: Currently, you can only delete two tags at one time.)

Notice that the system will tell you how many clips are associated with the Tag. This is helpful in gauging how often the tag is used.

Click the Delete button.

Click Delete on the confirmation screen to fully Delete the Tags.

Smart Tag Management

The Smart Tag section of Settings will enable you to change the criteria for a Mention, Brief, or Feature. This will help you categorize your news based on how many times a defined term is mentioned in an article.

A few notes on Smart Tags:

  • Smart Tags tracking is not always turned on by default in the Cision Communications Cloud. If you want to see Smart Tag information, contact your Account Executive.

  • Smart Tag settings are account wide. This means that all of the terms below will need to be entered for any data group that you have setup in your system.

To make changes in your Smart Tag Criteria

Click the Person icon in the upper right hand side of your toolbar and select Settings.

Select Smart Tags from the Settings Panel.

A form will appear that will enable you to establish custom criteria for a Mention, Brief, and Feature:

In the text box, type the search terms that you are looking for the system to begin tagging. If there is an error in your Boolean Syntax, an error message will pop up and notify you.

Notice that Boolean can be used to incorporate multiple search terms.

Determine the number of mentions of the keyword(s) that should be made within a particular amount of words to meet your criteria for a Feature.

Determine the number of mentions of the keyword(s) that should be made within a particular amount of words to meet your criteria for a Brief.

Any clips that do not meet your criteria for Feature or Brief will automatically be categorized as Mentions.
