The following will guide you through the process of creating a simple Keyword Search that can be used to bring coverage into your system. Additionally, we recommend viewing our Concepts for Creating Effective Basic Keyword Searches document prior to creating a search.
To Create a Basic Keyword Search:
Click on the Person icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Select Settings from the drop-down menu
Find the Keyword Searches panel in the menu on the left-hand side
Click the + Add News Keyword Search button in the Keyword Searches area in the center of the screen.

Note: Hover over the “i” icon to get more information about each field in the form.
Enter Search Terms:
Enter your core search term(s) in the “Contains ALL the following keywords”. Hit the Enter key on your keyboard to add each search term you type. Core search terms are words or phrases that have to be present in every article to make them relevant.
If you enter multiple words or phrases in the “Contains ALL the following keywords”, notice that the system will insert a Boolean “AND” which means that all entered words or phrases in this field must be present in the article for it to be brought in by the search.
If you do not want this AND relationship inserted, you may want to consider revising your search or using the Advanced Search option.
Enter qualifying terms in the “Contains ONE OR MORE of the following keywords field. Qualifiers are terms that “qualify” your search and provide more information about the context in which your key search terms are relevant. The presence of qualifier terms helps ensure that the mentions of your core search terms are relevant to your specific needs. One or more of your qualifier terms needs to be present in a clip for that clip to be retrieved.
Add exclusion words and phrases in the “Contains NONE of the following keywords” field. When an exclusion term is present, that takes precedence over everything else. Even if all of your core search terms and qualifiers are found in a clip, if it contains any one of your exclusion terms it will not be retrieved.
A. Type in the field or click in the field to select the languages of the coverage that the search should look for matches within.
B. Type in the field or click in the field to select the countries that the articles pulled in for this search should originate.
C. Select the media sources you would like the platform to pull in for your results.
IMPORTANT: If you select Twitter or Social Networks, you must contact Customer Care to ask them to optimize your newly created keyword search. In the optimization process, we translate your search terms so that they will be acceptable by the various social channels’ search term requirements.
Click on the Clear Selections link to remove all languages, countries or media sources you added in that section.
Once you've filled in all fields, click on the Preview Results button.
You will then see a sample of coverage that matches your search from the last 30 days. NOTE: This coverage will NOT be pushed into your system (please use our archive search to find old content) but will give you an idea of what you can expect going forward.
If you need to revise your search for any reason, click Revise Search Criteria.
If you are happy with your results, click Save Search and type in a name. This will bring in all matches to that search into your system going forward.
