How Do I Create a Custom Activity on the Platform for My Activities?

The Cision Communications Cloud system comes with several default Activity Types: Appointment, Callback, Inquiry, Other and Send Mailing. If your username is set to System Admin privileges and you wish to add Custom Activity types to you system that better align with your business needs take the following steps.

Click the Person icon in the upper right hand side of your toolbar and select Settings.

Select Custom Activity Types from the Settings Panel.

Here you will find a list of any Custom Activity Types that have already been created.

Adding Custom Activities

You can add new Custom Activity type by clicking the New Custom Activity Button.

A pop-up will appear that has a variety of options to choose from. See descriptions of each of these options below.

Display in My Activities: This allows you to decide if you want this option to show in the Activity Type field. By default, this will be turned on but you have the option to turn it off in the future so this created activity type does not show.

Name: Give the Activity Type a name.

Color: Pick the color you would like these activity types to generate in a chart.

Icon: Select which Icon you would like to be associated with all Activities of this type.

Edit Fields: This allows you to pick and choose what fields generate inside of any activity of this type. You can drag and drop these fields in an order that aligns with your business needs.

Edit Fields Checkbox: You can uncheck any fields in which you would not like to show when choosing this Activity Type.

Are they required?: You can choose which fields are required for anyone using this Activity Type.

Save: Once you are happy with your selections, select Save.

Once you click Save, this Activity Type will now be available any time someone using your system creates a new Activity.


Editing and Deleting Custom Activities

You can edit any of the criteria used to create the custom activity at any time. Select on the name of the Activity to open the screen to make any changes you would like. Some important things to note about editing Activities:

Any activity type can be edited.

NOTE: If a value on that type is removed, the data in that field will be removed from all existing activities with that type. You will not be able to recover any of that data in the future.

When it comes to deleting Custom Activities, you can delete any Activity Type that is not associated with an activity being used in your system. If this type is associated with any other activities in your system, you will not be able to delete the activity.

However, you can remove it from the drop down by selecting the activity name and toggling Display in My Activities to off.

Once you are happy with any changes you have made click Save.
